46-350 Arabia Ave.
Wednesday and Saturday nights 4 p.m.-10 p.m.
This exciting, and second largest of Maclin's Open Air
Markets, is found at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio. Not far
from the glamour of Palm Springs, this night market has tremendous
bargains found only while shopping under the stars. It is reminiscent of
bazaars throughout the world.
The architecture of the fairgrounds is that of a city in Morocco, and in that way is perhaps the most interesting of the fairgrounds to be found in Southern California. The market fills the palm tree fringed parking area of the fairgrounds. Shoppers can watch the sunset while buying "fresh from the field" produce picked that morning by our vendors. A trip for produce should always include the fresh dates that are grown in the immediate area. Nearly everything for the entire family can be found at reasonable prices by browsing the many aisles with the moon as your companion. This is a very social marketplace and friends gather to shop and eat here.
This location is open every Wednesday and Saturday evening with more than 400 vendors and thousands of shoppers. Regional cuisine and various snack foods are available. Parking is free and a small admission fee is charged to shoppers.
Rates: $25.00 Wednesday and $25.00 for Saturday
Spaces are 25'x25'. Vendors may park their vehicles in the assigned spaces. 3 m.p.h. speed limit is enforced throughout the market area.
Vendors who wish to pay in advance each month for a regularly assigned space must do so prior to the last Wednesday or Saturday of each month. Vendors who do not prepay will be assigned spaces by the site manager on event day.
No prepared foods or drinks may be sold. No weapons, no items that would be inappropriate for a family venue and, of course, nothing illegal may be sold. Primarily brand name and discount merchandise, antiques and collectibles and crafts are permitted.
California law mandates that any vendor selling merchandise must have a resale license. Maclin Markets must have a copy of your license on file by the time you have sold at this market twice. Contact your local State Board of Equalization for this permit. Listing for their offices can be found in your local telephone book yellow pages. You will need to tell them where you are selling; please have this address available.
Electricity is available providing that vendors do not exceed usage of 500 watts. Vendors who exceed limits will be fined and may be denied electric usage in the future.
Directions: from I-10 exit Monroe, turn right. Continue on to Highway 111, turn left. Turn right on Arabia Street to the fairgrounds parking lot. The Indio Open Air Market is on the corner of Arabia and Dr. Carreon.
